Tread Lightly - The Beam Series

Tread Lightly is the latest in  Kate’s ongoing Beam Series, created using reclaimed construction beams from her childhood home in Dorset.

This work celebrates transformation - from the weight and function of a building material to a sculptural form that feels softened and alive. Kate reshapes the timber while honouring its man-made notches and natural markings, treating them as part of an ongoing dialogue with the wood. Bold curves and sweeping lines emerge from the beam’s history, giving the piece a sense of movement and quiet sensitivity.
