  • This ongoing body of oil paintings takes the structure of a bouquet and loosens it into gesture and colour. Stems appear and dissolve; vessels are sometimes present, sometimes absent. The compositions hover between abstraction and suggestion, allowing memory and sensation to lead.

Influenced by coastal light, desert landscapes, market textiles and shifting skies, the palette carries traces of lived experience rather than direct reference. Each work is built through rhythmic, intuitive brushwork - often developed in response to music - creating paintings that feel both sensuous and immediate.

These are not still lifes in the traditional sense. They are arrangements of atmosphere and emotion, held briefly before they shift.

Indigo Blues is named after a song on the Radio FIP playlist by Llorca with Nicole Graham. This song was playing in my headphones when the painting came to life.
