"While I was in Brazil I discovered the Afro-Brazilian tradition of Banho de Folhas, or "leaf bathing", where plants are used in rituals of cleansing and renewal. Rather than illustrating the practice directly, I was interested in the idea of the forest itself becoming a place of restoration, where colour, light and nature surround you completely.Swimming became a daily ritual during my time in Brazil, but I realised I experienced the same sense of immersion walking through the rainforest.
